Children's Services


     The Upshur County Public Library encourages children of all ages to take advantage of what the library has to offer- books, learning, computers, magazines, audio books, videos, fun and games!

Computers: The library has four special Gateway computers just for children! The software includes children's games, writing programs, and reference material.

Dial-a-Story: Children may listen to a new story each week by calling 473-4224. The Friends of the Library provide this service.

Summer Reading Club: The summer reading program is held each summer for elementary students entering kindergarten through the completion of fifth grade. The program incorporates reading with prizes and other special activities to encourage students to read during the summer. 

Preschool Storytime: Preschool storytime is held every Thursday morning from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. for children ages 3 - 5. The program includes stories, crafts and snacks. The program is very informal and designed to encourage children and their parents to use the library. Story Time Schedule
